Bamboo Removal in Ocoee
Bamboo that has jumped the fence line, crowded your AC unit or started pushing up through the lawn will not stop on its own. We cut it down, dig out the rhizomes that feed it and leave you with usable ground again.

Getting Rid of Bamboo for Good
Cutting bamboo to the ground only resets the clock. The plant lives in its rhizomes, the thick underground stems that run sideways a few inches to a foot below the surface. As long as those stay in the soil, new canes keep coming, and in a hot, wet Florida summer they can shoot up faster than almost anything else in your yard.
Our removal work goes after that root system. We clear the canes, excavate or grind out the clumps and trace the runners as far as they have spread. If you want to keep some bamboo, we can contain it with a buried barrier instead of removing it all.
There is a comfort side to this too. Dense bamboo packed against the house or around an outdoor AC condenser holds moisture and blocks airflow, which makes the unit work harder. Opening that space back up lets the equipment breathe, and it gives you room to plan shade that actually helps, like a well-placed tree, through our landscape design service.

What Our Bamboo Removal Covers
- 01
Cutting and hauling the canes
We cut every culm at the base and haul the material away. Bamboo is bulky and tough to dispose of, so you are not left with a pile at the curb.
- 02
Rhizome excavation
We dig out the underground runners and the dense root mass under each clump. This is the step that keeps it from growing back.
- 03
Clump grinding
Large, established clumps can be too dense to dig by hand. We grind them down below grade, much like our stump grinding work.
- 04
Root barrier for bamboo you keep
If you want a privacy screen to stay, we can install a heavy plastic barrier in the soil around it to stop runners from escaping into the rest of your yard or your neighbor's.
- 05
Regrading and restoring the area
Once the roots are out, we fill and level the ground. From there we can lay new turf through our sod installation service or prep the spot for new beds.
Questions about Bamboo Removal?
Call(407) 986-0087Signs It Is Time to Remove Your Bamboo
Shoots popping up in the lawn
New canes appearing several feet from the main clump mean runners are spreading underground. Mowing them down will not slow the roots.
It is crowding the house or AC unit
Bamboo pressed against siding, a slab or an outdoor condenser traps humidity and restricts airflow. That can mean mildew on walls and an AC system that runs longer than it should.
It has crossed the property line
Running bamboo does not respect fences. If it is heading into a neighbor's yard, removing or containing it now is far easier than later.
Dead canes and thick litter
A grove full of brown, dead culms and deep leaf drop is hard to keep tidy and gives pests a sheltered place to settle.
It is lifting pavers or edging
Rhizomes can push up walkways, borders and bed edging as they spread. Left alone, the damage tends to grow along with the bamboo.
How a Bamboo Removal Job Runs
- 1
Free on-site walkthrough
We come out, look at the type of bamboo, how far it has spread and what is nearby, like fences, irrigation lines and utilities. You get an honest answer on full removal versus containment.
- 2
Clear estimate
We explain what the job involves and what drives the cost before any work is scheduled. No surprises on the day.
- 3
Cut, dig and haul
Our crew cuts the canes, excavates or grinds the root mass and removes all the debris. We protect nearby beds and your lawn as we work.
- 4
Barrier, fill and grade
If you are keeping some bamboo, the barrier goes in now. Then we backfill and level the ground so it is ready for whatever comes next.
- 5
Watching for stray shoots
A small piece of rhizome can sometimes send up a shoot in the following weeks. We tell you what to look for and how to handle it so it does not take hold again.
What Affects the Cost of Bamboo Removal
No two stands of bamboo are alike, so we set the price only after we have seen yours in person. Most of the cost comes down to how much bamboo there is and how far its roots have wandered. When removal is one piece of a larger yard project, you can spread the cost out: financing is available for amounts up to $100,000, with terms anywhere from 2 to 12 years and no penalty if you pay it off early.
- Size and age of the stand
- A young clump comes out quickly. An old grove with years of rhizome growth takes more digging and grinding.
- Running or clumping type
- Running bamboo spreads wide underground and takes more tracing to remove. Clumping bamboo stays tighter but forms a very dense root ball.
- Access and nearby obstacles
- Bamboo tucked behind a fence, next to a foundation or tangled around irrigation lines means more careful hand work.
- Barrier and restoration
- Adding a root barrier, new sod or fresh beds after removal adds to the scope, and we list it separately so you can choose.
Bamboo Removal Questions
Will the bamboo grow back after you remove it?
If the rhizomes are left in the ground, yes, and that is why we dig them out rather than just cutting canes. A small missed piece can occasionally send up a shoot. We show you what those look like so you can pull or cut them early, before they build new roots.
Can I keep some bamboo for privacy?
Yes. We can remove the part that has spread and contain the rest with a root barrier set deep in the soil. It keeps the screen you like without letting it take over the yard.
Is removing bamboo near my AC unit worth it?
Usually, yes. Outdoor condensers need open space around them to move air, and thick bamboo blocks that and holds moisture. Clearing it gives the unit room to work and makes service visits easier.
Will you damage my lawn or sprinkler lines?
We work carefully around beds, turf and irrigation, and we look for sprinkler lines during the walkthrough. If a line runs through the root mass, we plan around it. Any area we dig gets backfilled and leveled.
What happens to the ground afterward?
We leave it graded and ready. Many people follow up with new sod or planting beds, and we can handle that through our sod installation or mulch and beds services.
